Meet the Candidates for the 2017 Executive Board
Candidate for President
Owner, XOXO Weddings & Events
I have been on the Board for nearly 4 years. I have served as Membership Director and Vice President/Community Service. Naturally, I have been working towards the position of President. I am a huge supporter of NACE and look forward to a wonderful year of education and networking.
I have been in the wedding/event industry for 14 years. I am well rounded, having held positions at a venue, a hotel, a rental company, and as a wedding planner. My experiences at each of these positions have given me the knowledge necessary to serve as a professional on the Board.
Candidate for Vice President
Owner, Elevated Events of Virginia
Having sat as a board member in two different positions (Membership and Programs), I understand the responsibilities of multiple positions and have the experience needed to be able to assist other board members and the President when needed. I believe that as a non-profit that hosts meetings every month based on sponsorships and donations, that it is important for us as an organization to
give back to the community. Over the course of many years, I have participated in several non-profits and community service activities: Cat's Cradle, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Soup Kitchens, Toys for Tots, Adopt-A-Street, etc. These many different organizations have shown me the value of volunteering and helping others. I hope to be able to organize the community service efforts for NACE and show our community that we care and support one another.
Candidate for Vice President of Programs
President and Owner of Three One One, LLC
Why am I Running?
I feel that this opportunity is something that I do every day in my regular job so it would be a good fit. In addition to the reward of providing members with a great monthly meeting experience, I believe it is an opportunity to meet new people, grow awareness of the vibrant event scene we have in Richmond and network with other industry professionals. Plus, bragging rights are always pretty cool, too. J
Two examples of how experience demonstrates ability
Example 1 – Corporate trade shows. We have several corporate clients that we perform tradeshows for. A client who is in the hardscape manufacturing business utilizes us for all travel, booth setup/display/décor, hospitality, marketing as well as engaging all the team members from several divisions together to ensure a smooth, cohesive execution.
Example 2 – Festivals, Festivals, Festivals. With more than 20 festivals a year, I’m responsible for all aspects of the event. Our team develops all logos, marketing, coordination of vendors, solicitation of sponsorships, social media, permitting and licensing, hospitality and VIP experience, lodging for artists, catering, security and even ticketing, security and day of logistics.
Candidate for Treasurer
Owner, Bunn DJ Company
I'm running [for Treasurer] because I'd like to contribute my time and skills to an organization which benefits our local community of members as well as our members' clients whom will directly benefit from the education that NACE provides.
Prior to operating a DJ business full time I worked in construction management overseeing both the co-ordination and supervision of ongoing projects and financial aspects of multi-million dollar jobs including analyzing, comparing and tracking pre-construction costs and cost changes to ongoing projects.
Candidate for Director of Membership
Owner and President,
Classic Party Rentals of VA
I am a charter member of NACE and have served on the Board as Programs Chair the first two years of its existence. I would like to become a more active member by serving on the Board.
I have been in the rental industry for 18 years and have served on many Boards throughout the Richmond Community: NACE, Network of Enterprising Women, the JFWCC, Chesterfield Chamber Events Chair and currently LINC. I am exhausted by all of it but want to get back to my roots through NACE! :)
